Catalog Note:
Mark Handforth is an alumnus of the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago’s front plaza, where in 2011 he debuted a group of exuberant new sculptures. He also made the museum a limited edition of screenprints, such as this, each of which is unique in the arrangement of yellow and black coat hanger forms. He has used that shape in a number of giant sculptures, recognizing that a coat hanger is the material that sculptors often turn to first to sketch out a new idea.
