The present model was produced in response to Erik Magnussen's notable Modern American holloware line at Gorham, created during the designer's short tenure with the firm between 1925 and 1929.
Twenty-nine pieces of this lot were retailed by Josephs, Jewelers Since 1871, West Des Moines, Iowa.
Near complete seven-piece service for eight, plus eleven serving articles; 65 pieces total. Impressed manufacturer's marks and 'Sterling' to each example. Impressed manufacturer's mark to most dinner knives 'Gorham Sterling Handle' and 'Stainless'. Impressed retailer's mark to twenty-nine examples 'Josephs'. 62.31 ozt. (gross weighable).
